“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10
Velvet Jean Price, born January 23, 1961, the daughter of Cecilia Brown and the late Dale Brown, closed her eyes and woke up in the arms of Jesus on January 28, 2026. Velvet was the beloved wife of Eddie Price for 47 beautiful years. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. She is survived by her three children: Benji (Bekah), Olivia (Ben) Sigler, and Landon Price, and a special nephew, Chris (Selina) Smith. Velvet was preceded in death by her sister, Tiffany Brown; her sister-in-law, Linda White; and her beloved Nana, Irene Dheel. One of Velvet’s greatest joys in life was her grandchildren: Tiffany, Archer, Harleigh, and Nora Price; Breezy, Layla, Swayzie, Maya, and Hendrix. They were her pride, her laughter, and her heart. For 26 years, Velvet was the owner and heart behind Alterations by Velvet, where her talent, dedication, and kindness touched countless lives in the community. Velvet’s faith was the foundation of her strength. Her final words reflected the peace she carried in her heart: “Don’t be sad for me. When I close my eyes, I will wake up and be reunited with the ones who have gone home before me. I know you guys will miss me deeply, but I won’t have time to miss you because I’ll be rejoicing.” Velvet Price leaves behind a legacy of love, service, faith, and family that will continue to live on in everyone who knew her. A celebration of life service for Velvet will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 5:00 P.M. at the Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by Rev. Roger Wireman and Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before service time Saturday. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Price.
